Bananas will last 10 days longer if stored with kitchen utensils rather than in a fruit bowl.

According to the Express, bananas release significant amounts of ethylene gas, and storing them near other ethylene-sensitive fruits, such as apples and avocados, accelerates spoilage.

Kitchen renovation

While it seems logical to store bananas in a fruit bowl, they often soften and ripen too quickly. So now I keep mine in a corner of the kitchen counter, where they stay fresh for up to a week longer.

I've also found an even more effective way to extend shelf life: I recently discovered that bananas release ethylene gas through their stems. Wrapping the stems in aluminum foil or plastic wrap will keep them fresh for weeks.
