A friend of my mother's recommended Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam as a solution for our grease stains. It's primarily designed to clean dishes by absorbing grease, but she claimed it also worked wonders for laundry. Curious and desperate, my mother tried it and confirmed its effectiveness. Taking her word for it, I decided to try it myself. I initially bought it a few times at Target, but availability there was quite variable. So, I decided to order it from Amazon in the future.
The unique feature of this soap is its foaming consistency upon application: a small amount is enough for a long-lasting effect. Simply apply a small amount directly to each grease stain.
Rub the dish soap into the fabric with your fingers, making sure the entire stain is covered.
Let Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam work on your clothes for about five minutes before washing.
Use your usual detergent and wash your clothes according to the instructions. Personally, I wash all my clothes in cold water with Tide Coldwater Clean.
If the grease or oil stain persists, reapply Dawn foam cleaner and repeat the process. In some cases, stubborn stains require two or three washes, but most were gone after a single treatment, even if the shirt had already been washed and dried.
I've only tested this method on cotton, polyester, and denim. If you find a stain on delicate fabrics, I recommend testing Dawn's stain-removing foam on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Finding this solution for removing stubborn grease and oil stains was a huge relief! While I still don't like washing, it's at least one less chore!
