This surprising condition can be a symptom of early dementia. Here's how to protect yourself.

In our daily lives, there are signs we often ignore. One of them is   hearing problems   in noisy environments. Have you ever found yourself in a noisy room, trying to follow a conversation but not quite succeeding? Remember, this isn't just a simple inconvenience; it could be a warning sign for your brain. This surprising discovery could play a key role in preventing a disease that, according to the Vaincre Alzheimer Foundation, currently affects over a million people in France:   dementia.

Hearing problems that reveal a lot about our brain health

Imagine this: a study of over 82,000 adults has revealed an unexpected link between hearing problems in   noisy environments and an increased risk of dementia  . If you've ever had trouble hearing in a crowded restaurant or on a busy street, you know how frustrating it can be. But if these difficulties persist, they can be more than just a temporary inconvenience. According to a British study conducted by the University of Oxford, people who experience hearing problems in noisy environments are twice as likely to develop dementia as those with normal hearing.

And what's most surprising? Nearly 50% of participants with hearing problems weren't even aware of it. This means that many of us may be at risk without even realizing it! This finding, published in the journal   Alzheimer's & Dementia  , raises key questions: Have we underestimated the importance of hearing for our long-term mental health?
