How do you keep lemons fresh for longer and prevent mold formation?

Did you stock up on lemons this summer and want to prevent them from spoiling before you can use them? Then read on to keep them fresh! Perhaps you already know the best way to store lemons? When you soak them in water and make lemon juice, some of the juice remains.

1.   In ice cube trays

Carefully peel the lime, grate the zest, and divide it among the wells. Pour both the zest and juice into the wells of an ice cube tray. Freeze until the cubes are hard. Then place the cubes in a glass jar or a silicone freezer bag in a freezer-safe container. This way, you'll always have ready-made lemon juice and zest on hand!

2.   Use a toothpick

If there's only one lime with sugar, don't cut it in half. Then poke a hole in it with a toothpick and squeeze out only the juice you need. Leave the lime in the juicer and store it in the refrigerator.

3.   Water conservation

To keep limes fresh for a long time in the refrigerator:

  • Place it in a sturdy glass jar.

  • Rinse the water thoroughly until it is completely covered with lime.

  • Close the packaging well and store it in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
