1. Farmed tilapia:
Farmed tilapia often comes from overcrowded fish farms, where the fish are fed an unnatural diet. Many farms use antibiotics and chemicals, and studies have shown that farmed tilapia from some countries contains high levels of contaminants.
2. Farmed Atlantic salmon
Most commercially available Atlantic salmon comes from aquaculture. Farmed salmon is often exposed to pesticides, antibiotics, and synthetic dyes to enhance their pink color. Tests have shown that farmed salmon contains higher concentrations of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), substances linked to cancer.
3. Swordfish:
Swordfish are predators, meaning they absorb mercury from the smaller fish they prey on. High mercury levels can damage the nervous system, especially in children and pregnant women.
